DVA-Funded Psychology Services for Veterans & Families


We’re proud to support veterans, serving and former ADF members through our DVA-funded psychological services. Whether you’re navigating the effects of service-related trauma, adjusting to civilian life, or simply need someone to talk to — we’re here to help.


Support You Can Access


Eligible individuals can access a wide range of DVA-funded mental health services with the 11th HR clinic, including:

  • Trauma-informed therapy
  • Support for anxiety, depression, PTSD, or adjustment disorders
  • One-on-one sessions with registered psychologists
  • Specialised care for veterans and their unique mental health needs


Open Arms – 24/7 Veteran & Family Support


For immediate or ongoing support, Open Arms (formerly the Veterans & Families Counselling Service) offers:

  • 24/7 confidential counselling
  • Individual, couples, and family therapy
  • Support tailored for veterans, serving ADF members, and families

DVA Cards & Eligibility


You may be eligible for community-based psychology services funded by DVA if you hold one of the following:

  • Gold Card: Full access to DVA-funded psychological care in the community.
  • White Card: Covers mental health treatment for approved service-related conditions or under Non-Liability Health Care (NLHC) for general mental health support.


Treatment Options & Session Limits


With a referral from your GP, DVA-funded treatment typically includes:

  • Up to 12 individual sessions per year under a treatment cycle
  • Trauma-Focused Therapy (up to 8 longer sessions, 90 minutes each) using:
  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy
  • Exposure Therapy


Please note: Relationship or couples counselling is provided through Open Arms, not via community-based DVA funding.
