What is Positive Psychology?

Positive Psychology  is the scientific study of what makes individuals and communities thrive. Rather than concentrating primarily on mental illnesses or psychological problems, as traditional clinical psychology often does, positive psychology emphasizes the positive aspects of life and human potential.

This area of psychology primarily focuses on the experiences, strengths, virtues, choices, relationships, and institutions that contribute to successful functioning and enable individual and collective flourishing in difference contexts, countries, and societies.

Positive Psychology creates the opportunity to heal psychological blocks or barriers and to build strengths and traits that can encourage people to attain improved quality of life.

The goals of positive psychology are to understand the conditions that cultivate happiness and optimal functioning, to develop practices that enhance well-being, and to encourage individuals to focus on strengths rather than only on their weaknesses.
